Jaisalmer Fort

           Jaisalmer Fort: Source:-anagoria

      The beautiful fort lies in the city of Jaisalmer in the state of Rajasthan. Bhatti Rajput ruler Raja Rawal Jaiswal built the fort in 1156 AD. This architecture is very famous for tourism and is also known as the golden fort. It is a blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. Builders used yellow sandstone to construct the fort, which is 1,500 ft. long and 750 ft. wide.

The Jaisalmer Fort has four main entrances named Hawa Pole, Akshay Pole, Suraj Pole, and Ganesha Pole. It also contains other monuments such as Moti Mahal, Gaj Mahal, Rang Mahal, Sarvotta Vilas, and Akhai Vilas.

 

Beautiful parts of forts-

  • Raja ka Mahal: Maharwal Palace-

This is very important part of the Fort where the king himself used to live. This part is very beautiful and carvings, paintings are beautifully crafted by woman who later committed jauhar.The Raj Mahal Palace has several storeys. 

  • Rani ka Mahal-

It is also called as queen’s Palace where queen used to live. It is bit smaller than rajaka mahal.it has beautiful carvings, balconies, jharokhas, it has private temple of goddess gori for queen.

  • Jain Temples-

There are  three main and major jain Temples and 7 are small. All of these the most popular one is dedicated to Parshwanath Bhagwan. This Jain temple is one of the most magnificent of all Jian temples inside the fort

  • Lakshminath Temple-

This temple is near to jain temple and it’s temple of goddess Lakshmi and lord vishnu.

 

Alauddin Khilji attacked this fort in the 13th century and captured it for 9 year later Maharaja Mulraj conquered the fort and he signed a treaty with British to continue his command.
