  Shaniwarwada Fort is a historical Landmark located in Pune, Maharashtra.

 

     India that was built in 1732 by the Peshwa dynasty during the rule of BajiraoThe Peshwas used to reside in Shaniwarwada Fort, which is considered as the symbol of Maratha Empire.

 

The Peshwas built the fort to establish it as the center of their control.

 

     In the present day, the Shaniwarwada Fort is a popular tourist attraction and major landmark in pune.

 

History

  The name Shaniwarwada means “Saturday building”. They named the fort Shaniwarwada because they completed it on a Saturday. Additionally, they decorated it with gardens, fountains, and water channels to maintain a cool temperature during summers.

 

    The fort is also famous for its spooky history. The enemies brutally murdered the Peshwas, and their ghosts are believed to haunt the fort. Moreover, the fort is considered cursed as it witnessed several tragedies, including a fire that destroyed many parts of the fort and claimed several lives.

 

 

The designers used the traditional Maratha architectural style to create the complex structure of the fort, which covers an area of about 625 acres. They adorned the stories with intricate detailing and delicate carving, representing the grandeur of the Maratha Empire.

 

The fort originally had seven floors and was once known for its grandeur, grandeur and architectural excellence.

 

     Tourists form all over the world come to see its grand structure and learn about history.
