What is Education?

Education means training or teaching people at school. It is the process of learning knowledge, habits, skills, and beliefs. There are many methods include in education such as storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research. The Word education has been derived from the Latin term “Educatum” which means the act of learning. It drives out the best in every individual and nourishes the good qualities of Human beings.

How it should be defined actually?

Education is not something one should be getting with a great infrastructure but it must be teaching us about our structure internally as well as externally. It’s not something one should be getting by Giving so much money but it should be teaching us the right way the actual skills required by the market /industry to make money!

It should teach us values, skills, how to survive, how to talk and most importantly what to talk about?
How to manage things, Swot Analysis, How to use the internet; the most effective tool everyone has in an
effective manner to take more benefits; Our Education system should teach us these values while our curriculum is going on! Let’s have a look at The History Of Our The Education System in India!

History of  The Education System in India:

In the ancient time(1500 C.E), The Indian education system was imparted based on caste and religion.
Ex. Kshatriya was learned in the various aspects of combat, Brahmans were educated about scriptures and religion, vaishya caste learned commerce courses and this education commenced under the supervision of Guru or Prabhu.

Currently  The Education System in india is based on British Education pattern which was put into action in 1835 AD. The main objective to introduce English education is to play the role of mediator for administration in India and to prepare definite people of India for government work or clerical work.

Importance Of Education in India:-

The importance of education can be better understood by an illiterate person who has never been to school as the importance of the food is better understood by the person in need of food.

He knows the significance of school and what changes it brings to a person’s life. He could respond to the question- “why education is so essential?”. He realizes that education could be a key to his success and better life.

India is a developing country, to achieve the goals of development it becomes mandatory to cover all the major factors like illiteracy, corruption, gender discrimination, poverty, child labour etc.

A developing country needs to make its youth well educated and skilled so that they can contribute to economic growth. The average age of youth in India is 50% of its population (below the age of 25).

1.Primary Education.
2.Secondary Education.
3.Tertiary Education.

What is happening in our Present Education System?

In regular schools, a student has to study various subjects such as physics, chemistry, maths, biology, history, geography but if he wanted to win an Olympic gold medal this thing will not going to happen but fortunately, some students have done this in spite of this Barriers and restrictions.

As of 2012, India has 152 central universities, 316 state universities, and 191 private universities. As per the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) data 2011-2012, there are 1.3 million schools in India. So you can say that the overall schools in India crossed 1.5 M at present. Oct 29, 2017. India has a relatively low inbound student rate, with only 20,000 foreign students coming to the country in 2012/2013, compared to around 200,000 Indian students studying abroad the same year.

  • 88 lakhs students pass out every year.
    ●If 100 students enrolling in school,77% of students complete 10th std.55% of students complete 12th.26% students complete their graduation.
    ●The most important thing to have a look on is :
    19th-century content,
    19th-century architecture,
    20th-century methodology,
    teaching 21st-century students.

College-profitability-cheap lecturers-

  • Lecturers Salary in our Indian Universities –
  • Harvard University’ -16 lacs ₹
    Stanford University -16.5 lacs ₹
    Indian Universities – Minimum 67700₹ to maximum 8 lacs ₹.

Shortage of good faculties in Our Indian Education System:-

Due to corruption, talented as well as a deserving person aren’t getting the job.
And the knowledgeable person, he is not going to become a professor, he will join the corporate sector and earn more money.

Aspiration level too high, preparation level too low. Industry ready students are not available.92% literacy rate of youth but this is on paper not practically.
The Well filled mind is there but the need is of Well-formed mind, this well the filled mind will not give anything.

Learning pattern:-
•Harvard University focuses 80% on a Case study, 10% on the project, 5% on a lectures, 5% on learning.
•Stanford University focuses 40% on a Case study, 25% on a project, 20% on a lectures, 15% on learning.
•Wharton University focuses 40% on a Case study, 25% on a project, 20% on a lectures, 15% on learning.
•Indian University focuses 70% on theory,20% on practical,10% on a case study.

But what the problem is students are not going to college to learn, they are going for 75% attendance.Their main objective was changed. Even if a project or case study is given to them, they will buy it from the local bookseller market because none cross-check it.

In research, it is found that in summer internship 38%-58%
students submit fake projects because there is no cross verification.

What is wrong?
Incompetent teaching staff.
classroom/theoretical based approach.

Corporate needs?
•One employee will do the work of five employees, but the fact is five employees can’t do the work of one employee.

  • Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Lean Management.The rate of engineers producing in a year is more than the rate of our growing economic rate, these engineers are producing but not consuming properly.
  • 70% rise in enrollment in the MBA.
  • 92% literacy rate of youth but this is on paper not practically,

The well-filled mind is there but the need is of a well-formed mind, this well-filled mind will not give anything.
