One of Mumbai, India's most well-known temples is the Shree Mahalakshmi Temple Mumbai. It is devoted to Devi Mahatmyam's principal deity, Mahalakshmi. Hindu merchant Dhakji Dadaji (1760–1846) constructed the temple in 1831.

History of Shree Mahalakshmi Temple

Constructed approximately in 1785, this temple's past is purportedly linked to the construction of the Hornby Vellard. The chief engineer of the Vellard, Ramji Shivji Prabhu, a Pathare Prabhu, is said to have dreamt of a devi statue in the sea close to Worli after parts of the sea wall collapsed twice. After a search, he constructed a temple in its honor. Following this, the Villard's work could be finished without incident.

Images of the Tridevi goddesses Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati can be found in the Mahalaxmi temple. Pearl necklaces, gold bangles, and nose rings adorn each of the three images. Mahalakshmi is depicted in the center, her hands clasped together in lotus flowers. There are numerous vendors selling flower garlands and other items that worshippers use as offerings within the temple's compound.
