Former Finance Minister senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley dies at 66
Former Finance Minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley died at the age of 66. He was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi on 9 August. At that time, he was having trouble breathing. But after hospitalization, his condition continued to deteriorate. He underwent bariatric surgery a few years ago. People say that his condition deteriorated on Friday itself. His dialysis was done on Thursday. He is the former Finance Minister of India. On Friday, BJP’s National Vice President Uma Bharti reached AIIMS and inquired about Arun Jaitley’s health. Earlier, many senior leaders including President Ramnath Kovind have reached AIIMS and taken control of Jaitley.
Arun Jaitley was born on 28th December 1952 and died on 24 August 2019 in New Delhi. He was a prominent leader and famous advocate of the BJP. He is the former Finance Minister of India. He held several major positions along with the Union Minister of Justice under the rule of the NDA.
He was born to Maharaj Jaitley and Ratan Prabha Jaitley. His father is a lawyer. He completed his schooling at St. Xavier’s School, New Delhi in 1957-69. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in commerce in 1973 from Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi. He received a law degree from the Faculty of Law of Delhi University in the year 1977. During his career as a student, he was a master’s in academic and extra-curricular activities. He was also the President of the Students’ Organization of Delhi University in 1974. He is the former Finance Minister of India.
Political career Of Arun Jaitley
Arun Jaitley married Sangeeta Jaitley on 24 May 1982. They have two children, a son Rohan, and a daughter Sonali. He was a member of the National Executive of the BJP since 1991. He then became a BJP spokesperson during the period before the 1999 general election.
In 1999, after the NDA came to power under the BJP’s Vajpayee government. He was the Minister of Shipping. He joined the Office of Shipping on 1 July 2001 as Union Minister.
He was Minister for Justice and Company Affairs on 1 July 2002 of BJP and its national spokesperson. He is the former Finance Minister of India.
His Personal life
He worked in this capacity until January 2003 and was re-appointed to the Union Cabinet on 29 January 2003 as the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Law and Justice. With the defeat of the NDA in May 2004. He returned to serve the BJP as a general secretary. He is the former Finance Minister of India.
On 16 June 2009, he resigned from the post of General Secretary of BJP. He is also a member of the party’s Central Election Committee. As the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, LK Advani played a key role in the negotiation of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha and supported Anna Hazare for the Jan Lokpal Bill.
He successfully introduced the Eighty-fourth Amendment to the Constitution of India to free parliamentary seats by 2026 in 2002 and the Ninth Amendment to the Constitution of India in 2004 punished the defects. However, being within the party since 1980, he never opposed an immediate election until 2014. In the 2014 election, he was the BJP candidate for the Amritsar seat in the Lok Sabha seat (replacing Navjot Singh Sidhu) however lost to the Indian National Congress candidate Amarinder Singh. He was a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat.
On August 26, 2012, he said (outside Parliament) “there are occasions when an obstruction in Parliament benefits the country more.” This statement is considered to legitimize the obstruction of Parliament in contemporary politics in India.

After doing LLB in 1977, Arun Jaitley started practicing in the Supreme Court and many high courts of the country. In January 1990, Arun Jaitley was appointed as Additional Solicitor General in 1989 under the VP Singh government. He is the former Finance Minister of India.

He became deeply involved in student activism and was an active member of the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who would later play pivotal roles in shaping his political career.
In 1974, Jaitley took a defining step in his life by joining politics as a full-time commitment. The period of Emergency declared by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975 had a profound impact on Jaitley, as he became involved in opposing authoritarian rule. He was even arrested during this time, an experience that would remain etched in his memory and shape his political ideology.
Though he continued to pursue his studies in law and earned his degree in law from Delhi University, Jaitley’s passion for politics was undeniable. By the late 1970s, he had completely immersed himself in the political world, stepping away from his initial ambition to become a Chartered Accountant.
