The Quit India Movement Day also known as August Kranti Din is the movement led by Mahatma Gandhi against British Rule in India. On 8th August 1942, the All India Congress Committee launched this movement at the Bombay Session. 

The motto of this movement was to end British Rule in  India.

The All India Congress Committee launched a massive protest against British rule for their withdrawal from the country.

Almost entire Major Indian Leaders were imprisoned without any trial for their participation in this movement.

Mahatma Gandhi gave a Slogan of “Do or Die” during this movement.

Conclusion

“Quit India” was a slogan shouted by millions of Indians to the British to leave India. In Hindi, it is translated as “Angrezon Bharat Chhodo.” This iconic slogan ‘Quit India’ was coined by Yusuf Meher- a socialist Congress leader.

In India, every 8th of August is celebrated as August Kranti Din or The Quit India Movement Day to pay tribute to India’s freedom fighters.
