Introduction

The Navegaon Nagzira tiger reserve is a National park located in the Arjuni morgaon subdivision of Gondia district in state of Maharashtra, India and Nagzira sanctuary connects all the tiger reserves in Central India and tiger reserve is located in Gondia and Bhandara districts of Maharashtra.

The reserve is rich in biodiversity and is a link between Kanha, Pench and Tadoba Tiger Reserves.

The geographical structure here is undulating and the place Zenda Pahar is 702 m above sea level is high.

Nagzira tiger Reserve is the eastern green

oasis of Maharashtra state. This project is becoming very important as the environment is very conducive for biodiversity conservation.

This place is a living museum of nature and the scenery here is mesmerizing.

in 2013 a Nagzira tiger reserve was issued and It has recorded about 200 species of birds and  In addition to tigers, leopards, wild dogs, wolves, bears, wild boars,four-horned antelope, blue cow,spotted deer,Rusa unicolor, kakar, wildcats, otters, tadmanjars, Udankhars, snakes, ospreys, takachors, khatiks and rakhis. Many animals and birds like Dhanesh and Navrang Kotwal live here.

Near this sanctuary there are places of interest like Kosamtondi, Chorkhamara, Andharban and Nagdev Pahadi.

Nagzira tiger reserve  has two gates “Pitezari and Chokh Mara”. As soon as you enter the sanctuary and you can see many deer on both sides of the road quietly eating grass.

A sight to see is the wild looking deer and monkeys frolicking around them and As grassy pastures are abundant in the sanctuary, hundreds of herbivores like nilgai as well as sambar, chital, sheep and cattle are found here.

Nagzira tiger reserve  is one of the oldest and best sanctuaries in Maharashtra, India.

However, the dense forest here is too diverse and It includes teak, ain, bamboo, amla, bibba, saptaparni, bija, saja, tivas, dhawada haldu, arjuna, behda, tendu, semal, jambhul, charoli, amla and kusum, etc.

there are trees with dense crowns and Varieties of vines like Gulvel, Palasvel, Kanchanvel, Kachkari and Chilati have flourished in large numbers around the tree and  There is a vast reservoir in the middle of the forest.

It is a forest that offers the pleasure of wandering in a completely natural environment.

It is also indescribable to see the moonlight shining through the branches of the trees on the ground at night and then the moonlight floating in the water.

this sanctuary is known as a tropical deciduous region and Abundant with biodiversity and  this sanctuary is known as a tropical deciduous region.

After Tadoba, as tigers have been seen in Nagzira and  the flow of tourists has shifted here and The state bird of Maharashtra “yellow-footed-green pigeon” is found here. Besides Turmeric, Bluewing, Heavenly Dancer, Navarangi, Turewala Serpent, Osprey and also  White Eyed Buzzard are also found here.

Birds and animals

the sanctuary also features Malabar Hornbill, Green Carpenter, Chestnut Butterflies and various types of spiders and  Summer days and evenings are the best conditions for wildlife viewing.

Forest-based tendu leaf collection is an important business here and  The tendu tree grows up to 40 feet tall.

But it is pruned near the ground for tendu leaves and These trees bloom well in April and May.

After drying in hot sun for 10 to 15 days and these leaves are sent to the godown and then as per requirement the leaves are slightly moistened and used.

Therefore, a far-sighted eye often gives us the opportunity to capture a very good scene and Nagzira tiger reserve has many unique places with strange names like Andharban, Bandarchuwa and Katethuwa.

Reptiles also abound in the scenic Nagzira and a subtropical dry deciduous forest.

Python, Snake, rat snake, Banded krait and wild lizard are seen here. Just as the greenery of October is captivating, the leaves of May also tell us a lot.

this sanctuary has the highest number of wildlife sightings in maharashtra. december to june is the best time to  visit the sanctuary and the panorama point is right next to the sanctuary as well as the kapdyadev machan and the bandarchuha machan, from where you can see the wild animal and nature’s  feed hand and nagzira wildlife sanctuary has two gates namely pitezari and chokhmara.

NEAREST TURIST PLACES

Nagzira Tiger reserve is approximately 22 km from Sakoli village while on the other hand Nagzira tiger resrve is 30 km away. Private vehicles as well as forest department minibusses and other vehicles are available for jungle safari.

The importance of this project is great as it connects the big tiger reserves of Kanha in Madhya Pradesh, Amankamar in Chhattisgarh, Pench and Tadoba in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Wildlife habitat and best biodiversity is the specialty of this tiger reserve. As tigers are seen during the day and the steps of the tourists turn towards the forest here.

On 12 December 2013, Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, Naveen Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, Koka Wildlife Sanctuary, Naveen Navegaon Wildlife Sanctuary and Navegaon National Park were jointly declared as Tiger Reserves…
