Location of Tipu Sultan Palace Bangalore:

Located at the intersection of Albert Victor Road and Krishna Rajendra, it is the magnificent residence of Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore. The palace is located in the Bangalore Fort in Old Bangalore in the western Indian state of Karnataka. A fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture, this beautiful building was used as a summer retreat by kings and was often called "Rash e Jannat", meaning "House of Happiness" and "Heaven's Jealousy". The palace is one of the most beautiful buildings of antiquity, with its beautiful paintings, wide arches, protruding balconies and bright structures. You can stroll around the balcony before entering the palace. While exploring the palace, you are sure to get a glimpse of Tipu Sultan's royal lifestyle.

The construction of the fort started during the reign of Haydar Ali and was completed in 1791 during the reign of Tipu Sultan. The many features of this two-story building include massive beams, ornate supports, and idyllic natural surroundings. After Tipu Sultan's death, the British used the monument as a secretariat until 1868, when it was moved to Atalakacherry.

With its lush gardens, flowering trees and sparkling fountains, the palace is a popular tourist attraction and a focal point in the heart of the city. Recently, a small part of the fort has also been converted into a museum where various events related to the life and times of Tipu Sultan are exhibited. When visitors enter the castle, they will feel like they have entered a different place and time. While walking in the palace, there is a place that gives you peace and tranquility.

Tipu Sultan's summer palace in Srirangapatna, also known as Dariya Daulat Bagh, was used as a summer residence by Tipu Sultan, the former ruler of Mysore.

Tipu Sultan's summer palace was built in 1778-1784 AD.  The construction of the palace was started by Hyder Ali (Tipu Sultan's father) and completed by Tipu Sultan. Tipu Sultan's summer palace has two floors and was built with wood, mortar, stone and plaster. There are huge gardens around the palace. The interior is beautifully decorated with floral patterns and paintings depicting historical events and battles. Tipu Sultan's tomb is also nearby.

Museum: Tipu Sultan's summer palace also has a museum where works belonging to Tipu Sultan and his family are exhibited. Clothes, coins, weapons, silver and plastic used by Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali are exhibited here. Numerous paintings depicting important personalities and historical events can be seen in the museum, including a 200-year-old oil painting depicting a storm in Srirangapatna.

History:

The foundation stone of Tipu Sultan Palace was laid by Hyder Ali, the Sultan and ruler of the Mysore Kingdom. After his death in 1782, the house passed to his son. This beautiful building was completed in 1791 and has been the summer residence of Tipu Sultan and his family ever since. However, after his death, the mansion fell into the hands of the British government and was used as a secretariat. The palace falls under the jurisdiction of the government of Karnataka and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city due to its unique architectural style.

The palace's architectural features:

Tipu Sultan Palace is a fine example of Indo-Saracen style architecture with balconies and beautiful decorations. The complex is surrounded by the greenery of a well-groomed paradise. The two-storey building is unique in that it is made of teak wood. There is an open pool on the upper floor, and huge columns with carved arches on the lower floor. They are not only decorative but also support the foundation of the structure. Intricately carved wooden balconies,grand staircases are true masterpieces of Muslim architectural art. It is thought that the sultan used the east and west balconies to celebrate the public and other important events in the state. The interior ceiling and walls are decorated with glass chandeliers, colorful murals, wood carvings and floral patterns.

Be sure to visit the museum on the first floor. There is a rich collection of artefacts related to Tipu Sultan's life and reign, from real weapons and jewelery to everyday items used by his family. Pay attention to the picture. They describe historical events in the life of Tipu Sultan and his father Haydar Ali. The treasure of the museum is the replica of Tipu's playing tiger. It is a mechanical model showing a tiger killing a British soldier. The original is kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
