At a distance of 83 km from Bangalore and 101 km from Mysore, Chunchi Falls is a serene waterfall located near Harro Shivanahalli near Bangalore. It is one of the popular waterfalls near Bangalore and among the must include places in Bangalore Tour Packages.
Located on the way to Mekedat and Sangama above the Arkavathi River, Chunchi Falls is one of the most visited tourist spots near Bangalore. It drops down about 50 feet over several levels into a small pool. It is an ideal place to swim, play and relax in the water amidst naturally formed rock formations.

This place tends to get crowded on weekends. A short walk from the nearest road point is required to reach the falls. The place is a bit dangerous due to slippery rocks and a deep gorge on the way to the falls. Caution is advised when swimming.
After Kanakpura turn towards Sangama and drive for about 21 km and another turn after Dodda Alahalli and drive 6.5 km via Harro Shivanahalli to reach Chunchi Falls. The road to Chunchi Falls is full of greenery. Limited public transport options from Kanakapura, preferably by own transport.
Post-monsoons and winter are the best times to visit. Chunchi Falls is usually visited along with Raj & Shrikant (13.5 km away) with about 2 hours extra effort.

♦ Chunchi Falls is located in Chunchi village in Kanakapura district, Karnataka, India.
♦ The distance of Chunchi Falls is about 90 km from Bangalore and about 27 km from Kanakapura.
♦ Public transport is available from Bangalore, take a government bus (KSRTC) to Kanakapura and then hire a taxi/taxi to Chunchi falls.
♦ If you are coming by your own vehicle to visit, take Bangalore - Kanakapura road to Kanakapura, you will see
Sangama/Mekedatu sign board, take left from there and continue on Kanakapura - Sangama road, take another left at Alahalli village (around 21 KM from Kanakapura) and proceed according to Google map until you reach Chunchi village, ⚠ here Google map suggest to turn left but you need to turn right, get help from locals if needed.
Travel tips
♦ I suggest to go there during monsoon and avoid summer as less water in Falls may disappoint you. I visited in late September and the scenery was amazing.
♦ Chunchi Falls can be visited on any day of the week. During weekends the place is little crowded but it is good from safety point of view.
♦ Although there are a few makeshift shops with snacks and water bottles, it's a good idea to bring lunch and water bottles with you when you visit.
♦ There are several DANGER Sign boards, watch them and stay out of the water. Hot tubs and crocodiles below you can kill you.
♦ If you are traveling with children, be careful and do not leave them alone.
♦ There is an entry fee for vehicles.
♦ Photography is allowed without any charge.
♦ Restaurants and hotels are available in Kanakapura.
