Ferruccio Lamborghini with a tractor with his logo and a Jarama
Italian manufacturing tycoon Ferruccio Lamborghini created the business in 1963 with the goal of creating a sophisticated grand touring vehicle to rival products from well-known brands like Ferrari.
The 350 GT and other early models of the firm were introduced in the middle of the 1960s. The 1966 Miura sports coupé, which had a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive setup, made Lamborghini famous.
During its first ten years of existence, Lamborghini saw fast growth; however, with the 1973 global financial crisis and the oil crisis, sales began to decline.

The business filed for bankruptcy in 1978, and in 1980 the brothers Jean-Claude and Patrick Mimran were placed in receivership. By 1984, the Mimrans had bought the business out of receivership and made significant investments in its growth.

In 1987, the Mimran family sold Lamborghini to Chrysler Corporation. In 1994, after the Countach was replaced with the Diablo and the Jalpa and LM002 were discontinued, Chrysler sold Lamborghini to
the Indonesian firm V'Power Corporation and the Malaysian financial group Mycom Setdco. Lamborghini was sold by Mycom Setdco and V'Power to the Volkswagen Group in 1998, and the Audi branch of the company was given authority over the vehicle.
The brand saw a rise in production as new model lines and items were added to its lineup and released onto the market for Lamborghini. Lamborghini had a roughly 50% decline in sales during the global financial crisis and the ensuing economic downturn in the late 2000s.
The CEO of Lamborghini stated in 2021 that by 2024, every model will
